Economic Competitiveness

One core area of economic policy is competitiveness. Competitiveness is important as it underscores Ireland’s ability to survive as a small region in a globalised world economy. Understanding competitiveness requires understanding the drivers of costs and of productivity and putting in place an assessment of both from an international perspective.

A full assessment involves sufficient attention to detail to know the key metrics of success, but also a broader socio-economic perspective, as policy must serve a variety of goals, not just economic.
